Dennis Gates hopes his Missouri Tigers have done enough to make the NCAA Tournament. In the SEC basketball tournament, No 4 seed Mizzou took down the No. 5 seeded Tennessee on Friday, before falling 61-72 to No. 1 seed Alabama to end their tournament run on Saturday.

After the loss to Alabama, Gates was asked where he felt the Tigers deserved to be in terms of seeding in the Big Dance, to which Gates replied simply, “I hope we get in.”

As a follow-up, Gates was asked if he was afraid Missouri wouldn’t make the cut, and Gates reiterated his hope that the Tigers get in.

“I just hope we get in. That’s my hope. I hope we get in. I don’t know what the committee will do. It’s going to be a lot of great teams not make the tournament. I hope we’re able to get in. I hope we’ve done enough at the very beginning of the season. There were conversations about our scheduling and how all this didn’t add up and all the matrix and everything else. I’ve heard more negative about us than positive reinforcement throughout the year. I just hope we get in. It’s a matchup game. We’ll see. We’ll see.”

With the win over Tennessee, and a solid showing against Alabama, the Tigers will hope to hear their name called on Sunday’s selection show for the NCAA Tournament.
