Eli Drinkwitz loved his defense’s effort on Saturday in a huge road win at South Carolina, as Missouri knocked off the No. 25 Gamecocks 23-10.

After the game, he recapped the effort with Alyssa Lang on the SEC Network.

“They’ve been great all year,” Drinkwitz said. “Defense travels, we knew we needed to travel. How about the offense, no self-inflicted wounds, which has been huge for us. Just a great effort overall. Top 25 win on the road, we’ve been close, to get it done is big time.”

Drinkwitz was asked how Brady Cook handled the offense in that environment.

“That dude made some plays,” Drinkwitz said. “He’s taken a lot of crap and criticism, and that sucker showed up and got a Top 25 win on the road and he deserves a lot of praise this week.”

Cody Schrader contributed 81 yards rushing and a TD.

“That dude’s a stud, does everything right,” he said. “He’s a walk-on who believed in himself and bet on himself. He’s doing it in the SEC, I mean it’s unbelievable.”

About the Mayor’s Cup, Drinkwitz said, “When there’s a tangible reward, competitors play for it and that’s what we did tonight.”
