Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri Tigers learned on Sunday that they will face off against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl. This will be the team’s 1st Cotton Bowl appearance since the 2013 season.

Upon finding out who the Tigers would be playing against, Drinkwitz decided to have some fun at Michigan’s expense.

“Hey guys, I got a quick phone call, Connor Stalions beeping in right here, I’m trying to get some signals here, so I gotta go,” Drinkwitz joked.

Of course, Drinkwitz is referencing the Michigan sign-stealing scandal involving a staffer named Connor Stalions. Per reports, Stalions purchased tickets to a dozen Ohio State home games over a 3-season stretch, and he eventually resigned late in the season.

The Tigers had a fantastic 2023 regular season. The team finished with a 10-2 record and went 6-2 in SEC play. This was the first season with 6+ SEC wins for the Tigers since 2014.

The Tigers and Buckeyes have not played since 1998. Overall, the teams have battled 12 times, with the Buckeyes winning 10, the Tigers winning 1, and the teams tying once.

If the Tigers defeat the Buckeyes, it will be the first bowl win for the team since a Citrus Bowl win in 2014. The Tigers and Buckeyes will kick off on Dec. 29 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
