Missouri football picked up a huge commitment from 5-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri Monday afternoon.

It’s safe to say head coach Eli Drinkwitz was excited about the commitment.

Drinkwitz and members of Missouri’s staff were hyped after finding out Nwaneri was heading to Columbia, cheering and hugging while watching the Missourian announce his commitment.

And the reaction was well warranted.

Nwaneri is the No. 1 overall defensive lineman in the class of 2024 rankings and is sure to make an immediate impact when he suits up for the Tigers next fall. Standing at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, Nwaneri is one of the most physically gifted players in the class of 2024 and already has the appearance of an SEC defensive lineman. He is considered the No. 3 overall prospect in the country and the No. 1 DL by 247Sports’ composite rankings.

He will be a fan favorite for the Tigers, coming from Lees Summit, Missouri, just outside of Kansas City and about two hours west of Columbia.

Nwaneri picked Missouri over schools like Georgia and Oklahoma and is the highest rated commit in modern Missouri history.
