Jayden Jernigan is pulling a Jordan Belfort.

Jernigan announced via his Twitter account that he would be returning to the Tigers for the 2023 season. The Tigers finished 6-6 under 3rd-year coach Eli Drinkwitz and will face off against Wake Forest in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl on Dec. 23.

Jernigan transferred from Oklahoma State this offseason and became a focal point of the Tigers’ defensive front in 2022. He recorded 13 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a sack in 12 games. Jernigan’s best game came in a 17-14 loss to Auburn in Week 4, where he recorded a team-high 4 tackles, including a tackle for loss.

This past season, Missouri improved its run defense under 1st-year defensive Blake Baker. The Tigers allowed 127.2 yards per game on the ground and 3.73 yards per attempt, 4th-fewest among SEC programs. Last season, Mizzou ranked 124th nationally in run defense, allowing teams to average 227.9 yards per game rushing.
