Missouri is reportedly set to lose a backup quarterback to the transfer portal.

Per reports, Gabarri Johnson will enter the portal and look for a new school for the 2024 season. On3’s Pete Nakos was first to share that news on Friday evening.

Per the 247Sports Composite ranking, Johnson was the No. 25 QB in the 2023 class and the No. 4 prospect out of the state of Washington. Johnson committed to the Tigers last December and redshirted for the team in 2023.

The QB starred for Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington, so a move back to the west coast could be an option for the young signal-caller.

The Tigers have thus far seen 9 players enter the transfer portal. Johnson, Tight end Max Whisner, tackle Valen Erickson, guard EJ Ndoma-Ogar and wide receiver Demariyon Houston are the offensive pieces who have jumped in the portal.

While the Tigers have lost talent, they’ve also added one of the top running backs and one of the top defensive backs. Marcus Carroll and Toriano Pride should be immediate contributors in Columbia for the 2024 season.

The Tigers are set to play in the Cotton Bowl against the Ohio State Buckeyes to wrap up the 2023 season.
