As Missouri sees its program enter a new era as Dennis Gates takes over as head coach, Gates’ roster will see some changes.

One of the first appears to be veteran guard Javon Pickett, who was the second-leading scorer this past season with 11.1 points in 31 games played. He led the team in 32 minutes per game, and also chipped in 3.1 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game.

He had season highs in points (23 against South Carolina), rebounds (9 against Georgia) and 7 (against LSU) all in SEC play.

Another departure to the transfer portal is Trevon Brazile, who appeared in 25 games this past season and averaged 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

The departures leave Gates’ roster with 8 scholarship players. Pickett has one season remaining because the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility following the pandemic.

Pickett has been a key contributor for several seasons with the Tigers, including 2 seasons ago when he was the Sixth Man, and appeared in all 26 games despite an ankle injury late in the season. That season he averaged 6.2 points and 2.3 points off the bench, and shot a career-best 50.4 percent from the field – the best clip by a Mizzou guard in 2020-21.
