Under first-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, it appears newcomers to the Mizzou program have to earn their jersey numbers.
And, on Wednesday, after a couple of days of practice, a trio of newcomers have indeed earned the numbers they’ll wear this fall.
As you can see below, transfer OL Michael Maietti from Rutgers will wear No. 55, freshman WR Chance Luper will wear No. 18 and graduate transfer WR Keke Chism will wear No. 8:

Other first-year Tigers are still waiting for their numbers. We’ll see how many more earn theirs before the start of full-pad practice on Saturday. Maybe Drinkwitz will explain the process the next time he speaks with reporters.
