Rick Neuheisel showed major love to No. 16 Missouri after the Tigers topped South Carolina 34-12 last weekend to head into the bye week tied for second in the SEC East with Florida.

The CBS analyst believes it’s time to stop sleeping on the talented Tigers, especially since they can make a major statement in Week 10 at No. 1 Georgia.

“You know who kind of flexed and is now becoming a part of the college football story that is 2023 is Missouri…This is a really good football team,” Neuheisel said.

College Sports Radio host Chris Childers theorizes that Georgia could emerge from this weekend’s rivalry game vs. Florida emotionally and physically battered.

That would play right into the hands of Missouri for an upset according to Childers. Missouri is 2-1 in games against ranked opponents this season. Missouri edged No. 15 Kansas State by 3 and defeated No. 24 Kentucky by 17. Missouri lost to No. 23 LSU 49-39.

“Coming off a bye and Georgia’s got the rivalry game this weekend. Which you never know because those games can be weird. What if it’s weird and it’s a 4 quarter affair and Georgia’s like oh man we’re so glad to get through that,” Childers said.  “But then Missouri is waiting in Columbia just licking their lips. They blew the LSU game. That was in their grasp.”

Childers raves about the turnaround led by Eli Drinkwitz after Missouri went 6-7 last season.

“Eli Drinkwitz came into the season on the hot seat,” Childers said. “Now I think he’s got to be everybody’s favorite for SEC Coach of the Year. How could he not be?”
