Missouri’s talented defensive backfield is down two players for 2015.

Senior cornerback David Johnson and junior safety Chaston Ward have decided to transfer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Johnson, who’s already graduated, made just eight tackles over the last two years, and he was listed third on the depth chart. Ward made five tackles in 2014 and was listed as the Tigers’ No. 2 strong safety heading into spring practices.

Missouri’s defensive backfield should be very good in 2015, but losing depth this close to the season isn’t ideal.

In total, Missouri has lost six players since spring practice ended: Ward, Johnson, OL Jordan Williams, DL Marcus Loud, DL Evan Winston and DB Shaun Rupert.
