Leading up to season openers this week, our in-house uniform expert Brad Crawford will look at every SEC team’s apparel plans this season. Some programs are incorporating new alternates while others have made subtle alterations to helmets. We have our favorite looks and we’re sure you do as well.

Here’s a team-by-team glance at what you’ll see this fall:

MIZZOU TIGERS (NIKE)

  • 2014 HOME: Black helmet + black jersey + gold pants OR Black helmet + black jersey jersey + black pants
  • 2014 ROAD: Black helmet + white jersey + black pants OR Black helmet + white jersey + gold pants OR Black helmet + white jersey + white pants
  • 2014 ALTERNATE: Black helmet + gold jersey + black pants (HOME) OR Black helmet + white jersey + grey pants — Mizzou donned an alternate helmet in last season’s Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma State, choosing to go with a gloss finish over matte on its primary alternate lid. We’ll likely see this style again along with the black matte shell with silver decal version.

  • WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE (ALTERNATE HOME): Gold helmet + black jersey + gold pants — The Tigers have yet to go full-on Oregon with their combination options, but the incorporation of grey alternates and several helmets over the last several years has given Mizzou some of most appealing uniforms in the SEC. SEC Frenzy on Instagram has provided a concept of how a neon gold helmet would look in Columbia:
