SATURDAY

Missouri vs. Alabama
Kickoff: 4 p.m. ET
Friday Line: Alabama -14.5 (opened -14)
Over/Under: 49 (opened 48.5)
Public: 59 percent Crimson Tide

Edwards: “I certainly realize how explosive Alabama’s offense is. It could be a close game for three quarters and they can still cover this. Especially if you look at what they did late third quarter and in the fourth quarter last week. But that was Auburn’s defense. Alabama’s very balanced. Great running backs. Amari Cooper and Blake Sims have been terrific all year.

“But the way you slow down a good passing attack is a good pass rusher. Shane Ray and Markus Golden are very solid. The Tigers are 13th in the country in scoring defense, only giving up 19.7 points per game. If Maty Mauk can play mistake-free football — that’s certainly not a given. But look, Mizzou’s won six in a row, but in the last five, Mauk is 8-to-2 TD-INT ratio. He hasn’t been making mistakes and that recipe is winning.

“They’re also money as underdogs. They’ve won outright in eight of their last nine games as underdogs. They have not been a double-digit underdog since the 2012 regular-season finale, so unfamiliar to see them catching this many points. The last two years, in 26 games, they’ve only been beaten by more than this spread twice. The Georgia game this year and last year’s SEC championship game against Auburn.

“They’ve thrived as underdogs. I like the way Mizzou’s playing. If this one was below 14, that would be one thing. It’s not a super strong play, but I’ve got to go Mizzou. And I worry about Mizzou getting points, but I lean to the over. It’s a pretty low number. I made it 52.”

The Play: Missouri and the over.
