College baseball rankings: New SEC team grabs No. 1 overall spot in latest Baseball America poll

It’s another week, which means it is time for more college baseball rankings, including a fresh top 25 poll from the people at Baseball America. For the week of May 12, it is another new SEC baseball team at No. 1 overall.

Last week, Georgia held the top spot in the country but could not avoid a series loss at the hands of Alabama. This week, it is LSU climbing to No. 1 overall, the first top ranking for the Tigers in the Baseball America poll since LSU captured the 2023 College World Series crown in Omaha.

Despite the No. 1 ranking and a shot to earn the top seed for the NCAA Tournament, LSU is not quite the favorite in the latest odds to win the College World Series. According to DraftKings, the current favorite is Arkansas — the team LSU just took 2 out of 3 games from — at +400. Even reeling Tennessee (+650) checks in just ahead of LSU at +750 in the latest odds.
