After finishing its demolition of Long Island Saturday morning, the Georgia Bulldogs kept their momentum rolling against the Liberty Flames and are now one win away from hosting a Super Regional for the second time in the last 3 years. The Bulldogs took Saturday’s game, 6-2.

Georgia will face off against the winner of Liberty and Boston College immediately following their Sunday elimination game. The winner of that game would need to beat Georgia twice to win the Athens Regional.

Five different Georgia batters hit home runs in this one, all solo shots except the first score of the day, which came off the bat of — who else — Daniel Jackson. Jackson drove Tre Phelps home with this shot to center right:

Kenny Ishikawa, Ryan Wynn, Rylan Lujo and Brennan Hudson all hit solo shots to bring Georgia’s run total to 6.

Just a few of those home runs would have been enough alongside Jackson’s 2-run shot in the first, because Georgia’s pitching staff was nearly perfect following the first inning. Two of Liberty’s three hits on the afternoon came in the first inning, and Georgia combined for 9 strikeouts across the remainder of the game.

Matt Scott deserves a nod of the cap for his 5 innings with just 1 allowed hit and 4 strikeouts, recording his 7th win in the process.

Here’s a look at the latest odds to win the Athens regional, per Kalshi:
