LSU just added a big-time player to its 2027 roster.

LSU has earned a commitment from former Notre Dame star Bino Watters. He turned in a stellar 2026 campaign, hitting .362 with 10 homers while playing for the Fighting Irish.

Per D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers, Watters was the best-available hitter in the portal this offseason.

Watters will be a big part of LSU’s rebuild next season. The Tigers struggled mightily throughout the 2026 season and ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament.

Watters is a left-handed bat from Rochester Hills, Michigan. Listed at 6-foot-2, he just completed his sophomore season and will be eligible to enter the MLB Draft after his 2027 campaign in Baton Rouge.

Given LSU’s struggles this season, it should be no surprise that Jay Johnson and his staff have been aggressively pursuing targets in the portal. The Tigers have also landed a commitment from one of the top transfer pitchers in the country โ€” former Gonzaga star Landon Hood. The Tigers are expected to continue making additions via the portal in the coming days and weeks.

The College World Series is set to begin in Omaha later this week.
