Mississippi State is still alive in the Tallahassee Regional. The Bulldogs edged Northwestern 3-2 to move on to the regional finals to face host Florida State.
MSU started strong, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st to take a 2-0 lead. Hunter Hines had an RBI double to break the scoring ice, and another run came home on a Chance ground ball to 3rd base.

There was not a lot of scoring in Sunday’s elimination game, but Hines had another key RBI. He hit a sacrifice fly to extend Mississippi State’s lead to 3-1, which turned out to be the decisive run.

On the mound, Evan Siary came up big for the Bulldogs. Siary pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits, striking out 9 without issuing a walk over 22 batters faced. Nate Williams (0.2 IP) and Stone Simmons (2.1 IP, 1 H) handled the final 3 innings to secure the 3-2 win.
Mississippi State will face regional host Florida State. FSU needs only 1 win to advance to Super Regionals, while MSU needs to win twice.
