No. 21 Oklahoma had to work for it, but the Sooners improved to 32-13 and 13-10 in SEC with a 5-3 win over No. 23 Ole Miss on Saturday. The Sooners clinch the series over the Rebels and look to complete the sweep Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT.

Easton Carmichael and Cade Crossland were the heroes of the afternoon for Oklahoma. Let’s start with Crossland, who threw 6 innings with 5 hits, 2 earned runs and 8 strikeouts, setting the tone early. That’s an especially impressive outing against an offense as stout as Ole Miss.

Carmichael provided the fireworks for the Sooners, with not one by two home runs. He finished his day 4-5 from the plate with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs, including the no-doubter below that made it a 4-1 ballgame.

Ole Miss didn’t go away without a fight, however. The Rebels put 2 aboard in the bottom of the 9th and had a chance to tie or take the lead with 2 in scoring position. With all the pressure in the world, Dylan Crooks extinguished Ole Miss’s late rally to secure the 5-3 win.

Pure nails from Crooks when it mattered most:
