Ole Miss would have rather been in Omaha on Saturday, playing for a national championship like the one the Rebels won 4 years ago.
But Ole Miss was doing just fine in the transfer portal as it continued to build its roster for the 2027 season. Head coach Mike Bianco and the Rebels snagged 3 players in 1 day out of the portal, starting with a left-hander who comes from its most bitter rival. Ole Miss added Mississippi State transfer Charlie Foster, who becomes the fifth pitcher the Rebels have added just in this portal cycle alone.
Also coming to Oxford for next season are TCU transfer catcher Brady Dallimore and outfielder Blake Fields, who is transferring to Ole Miss from Houston.
The Saturday portal bonanza that the Rebels pulled off was headlined by Foster, a 6-foot-4 lefty who has struck out 54 batters in just 47.2 innings spread across 22 appearances. Foster is a Georgia product who will now pitch for the other SEC program in the state of Mississippi.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Dallimore was transferring to Ole Miss.
He hit .270 with 8 home runs this past season at TCU.
With additions on the mound and behind the plate on Saturday, Ole Miss didn’t stop there, also adding to its outfield for the 2027 season with the commitment from Fields.
Over-Slot Baseball, the first site and podcast that’s centered around the Major League Baseball Draft, with scouting and analytics, wrote of Fields: “Elite bat-to-ball artist. Exceeds at putting the game in motion. Very strong approach at the plate. Burgeoning strength and game power.”
According to Over-Slot Baseball, Fields is currently the No. 31 prospect in the 2028 draft.
But that’s way down the road for Fields, who will be trying to help Ole Miss get back to Omaha next June.
While Ole Miss furiously adds to its 2027 roster, SEC rival Oklahoma is trying to win a national title in 2026. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Sooners’ chances to topple North Carolina in the College World Series Finals in Omaha:
