Texas A&M didn’t even make it out of its own regional this spring in its pursuit of a spot at the College World Series, but the Aggies continued to get a jump on building their roster for the 2027 season.

With SEC rival Oklahoma getting ready to face North Carolina in the CWS Finals series starting Saturday night (8 p.m., ESPN), Michael Earley’s Texas A&M program got a commitment on Friday afternoon from Houston transfer right-hander Caleb Kimble.

Kimble hasn’t just decided to play for another in-state program in 2027. He’s also decided to leave his hometown of Houston to head to College Station. Kimble’s commitment means that Texas A&M has now added 4 pitchers during the current portal window, and that’s crucial after the Aggies struggled on the mound in 2026 with a combined 5.24 ERA.

Texas A&M will also be getting a talent in Kimble with plenty of eligibility left. He was only a true freshman in 2026, appearing 14 times for Houston with 2 starts. Kimble was 0-1 with a 3.97 ERA, striking out 24 batters in just 22.2 innings, so he averaged over 1 strikeout per inning in his first season of college baseball.

Kimble did walk 14 batters in 2026, but he held opponents to a feeble .167 batting average, so Texas A&M is getting a potential difference-maker on the mound for the 2027 season. But Kimble could potentially also help in the outfield, as he’s also listed by Houston as an outfielder, though he failed to get a hit in 2026. Kimble went 0 for 9 with 1 walk, striking out 6 times, so clearly his impact with the Aggies next year will likely come as a pitcher.

Texas A&M has now added 7 players overall during this transfer portal window, including those 4 pitchers as it tries to revamp its staff after a disappointing performance in 2026.

Texas A&M will take another run at getting to Omaha to play for a national championship in 2027. But in 2026, there are still 2 teams battling at the College World Series to bring home the national title trophy, and here is what the Kalshi odds are currently saying about those 2 teams with the CWS Finals starting on Saturday night:
