Saturday night’s marquee matchup between Texas and Georgia will not start on time due to inclement weather.

The Longhorns and Bulldogs were set to face off at 7 p.m. local time in Omaha. The NCAA has announced there will be a delay to begin the game, although no start time has been set as of publication.

The NCAA says gates will still open at 6 p.m. local time and that another update will be issued at 7 p.m.

This will be the final first-round game of the 2026 College World Series. The winner of Texas-Georgia will face Oklahoma in the winner’s bracket on Monday. The loser will play Alabama in an elimination game on Monday. The Sooners beat Alabama 9-0 earlier in the day on Saturday.

Georgia entered the College World Series as the betting favorite to win the National Championship. The Bulldogs won the SEC’s regular season and tournament titles this year in dominant fashion.

Texas is a worthy challenger, though. The Longhorns are a perfect 5-0 in the postseason, most recently sweeping the Austin Super Regional against Oregon.

Texas and Georgia did not play in the regular season, so this will be their first meeting in 2026.
