The college basketball season is right around the corner, as regular season games get started on Nov. 2. With the games that close, the preseason watch lists are coming out. One of the most beloved awards is the Bob Cousy Award, which is given annually to the best point guard in college basketball.

The SEC is well represented on the preseason watch list, as eight point guards from the conference are on the list.

  • Markus Burton, Indiana
  • Elliot Cadeau, Michigan
  • Jason Crowe Jr., Missouri
  • Silas Demay Jr., UConn
  • Donovan Dent, LSU
  • Quinn Ellis, St. John’s
  • Jeremy Fears Jr., Michigan State
  • Boogie Fland, Florida
  • Aden Holloway, Alabama
  • Josh Hubbard, Mississippi State
  • Nigel James Jr., Marquette
  • Acaden Lewis, Miami
  • Chance Mallory, Virginia
  • Tahaad Pettiford, Auburn
  • Miles Sadler, West Virginia
  • Jackson Shelstad, Louisville
  • Jordan Smith Jr., Arkansas
  • Tyler Tanner, Vanderbilt
  • Dedan Thomas Jr., Houston

Jason Crowe enters Missouri as one of the highest ranked prospects in the country, ranking No. 7 in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

No point guard in college basketball raised their stock more during the season than Tyler Tanner, who finished with 19.5 points, 5.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds while helping the Vanderbilt Commodores make it to the Round of 32.

All of these guys are capable of taking their team to the NCAA Tournament in 2026, and it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see one of these players named the SEC Player of the Year as well.
