The Alabama basketball program has reportedly landed a top-30 overall recruit in the 2027 class, as guard Anderson Diaz from Atlantaโs Overtime Elite has committed to Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats.
The commitment, first reported by Rivals, delivers the 6-foot-1 point guard originally from Bronx, NY., who is the No. 29 overall recruit in the 2027 class according to 247 Sports Composite.
It’s possible Diaz could get reclassified to the 2026 class before arriving in Tuscaloosa. Diaz chose Alabama over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh and more than a dozen other programs.

Diaz has been competing with the NY Rens on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring, averaging 20.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 4.6 APG, and 1.6 SPG. Diaz is a high-level ball-handler who can create off the bounce, collapse defenses, and make plays for others for years to come.
Diaz is Alabamaโs first commitment in the 2027 class. If he were to be reclassified into the 2026 class, Diaz would join shooting guards Qayden Samuels and Tarris Bouie and small forward Jaxon Richardson from the high school ranks along with transfers Drew Fielder, Cole Cloer, Jamaron Davis-Fleming and Brandon Garrison.
Alabama went 25-10 overall and 13-5 in the SEC last season, losing to eventual national champion Michigan in the Sweet 16.
