Alabama made an intriguing transfer portal addition on Monday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide picked up a commitment from former Boise State center Drew Fielder. At 6-foot-11, Fielder showed off elite 3-point shooting potential in 2025-26 as he made nearly 41% of his long-range efforts.

Fielder averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season before entering the portal and landing in Tuscaloosa.

Fielder proved that he could be an effective stretch-5 while playing for the Broncos this season.

If he can maintain his shooting ability in the SEC, Fielder could be a perfect fit for Nate Oats’ offensive scheme. The Crimson Tide are often among the nation’s leaders in 3-point attempt rate and offensive pace.

Fielder isn’t necessarily going to be a deterrent at the rim, but Alabama has other options for that role. Fielder is the third transfer center to commit to Alabama out of the portal so far this year, joining Brandon Garrison (Kentucky) and Jamarion Davis-Fleming (Mississippi State). Both Garrison and Davis-Fleming averaged 2+ blocks per 40 minutes this past season.

Alabama will be hoping to take another step forward next season under Oats after bowing out in the Sweet 16 this past March.
