Alex Condon will be back in Gainesville for the 2025-26 college basketball season, according to a report.
That’s per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, who says Condon is set to return to Florida to help the Gators defend their National Championship next season. Condon went through the pre-draft process and was thought of as a potential first-round pick, but it seems he’s ultimately decided to stay in school for another year.
Condon spoke with ESPN about his desire to lead Florida to back-to-back national titles.
“It’s a hard thing to do, winning back-to-back,” Condon told ESPN. “We’re not taking it lightly. We need to get together as a team. Get back to Gainesville, share in some hardship through hard work in the summer, and get used to playing with each other. Part of the reason we were so good last season was we got used to playing with each other for two years. We need to continue that. When guys have your back, that’s what makes a great team.”

Florida does have to replace several key pieces from last year’s team, most notably all-American guard Walter Clayton Jr. But the Gators did good work in the transfer portal this offseason, adding back court help in the form of Xaivian Lee, Boogie Fland and AJ Brown.
Condon started 35 games for the Gators this past season. He averaged over 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists per game while also serving as a rim protector. He was named all-SEC for his efforts in 2024-25.
