Arkansas basketball just got a whole lot better heading into the 2026-27 season.
The Razorbacks and head coach John Calipari scored a commitment from Finnish pro Miikka Muurinen on Monday, landing his pledge over the likes of BYU, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, to name a few.
Muurinen is a great addition to an already stacked 2026 class for the Razorbacks. Arkansas now boasts three 5-star prospects (Muurinen, JJ Andrews and Toure Smith) and a high-end 4-star prospect (Abdou Toure), rounding out what is now the top freshman class of the 2026 cycle per ESPN.
Standing at 6-foot-10, Muurinen is an explosive athlete with a sweet stroke from outside and excellent touch in the paint. He suited up for Team Finland alongside NBA star Lauri Markkanen in EuroBasket 2025 (highlights seen below) and played professionally for Serbia’s Partizan Belgrade last season. In other words, Muurinen shouldn’t be a developmental piece — he could be one of the better players on the court starting Day 1.
And so, the rich get richer in Fayetteville. In addition to Arkansas’ stacked 2026 recruiting class, the Razorbacks return Billy Richmond, Isaiah Sealy and perhaps Meleek Thomas, though the latter still has to decide whether he wants to return to college or stay in the NBA Draft.
On top of that, the Razorbacks added transfer commitments from former Georgia guard Jeremiah Wilkinson and Furman forward Cooper Bowser to provide some veteran depth for another young, talent Calipari roster.
