Auburn basketball made a significant transfer portal addition on Monday morning.

The Tigers landed a commitment from former Creighton forward Owen Freeman. The ex-Bluejay averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds during his junior campaign in 2025-26.

Freeman previously played at Iowa for 2 seasons before transferring to Creighton. He’ll now head to the Plains for his final season of collegiate eligibility. College basketball insider Jeff Goodman was first to report that news on Monday:

Freeman’s time at Creighton didn’t go as planned. He battled injuries and started just 9 games, but appeared in 26 overall.

However, Freeman flashed significant upside during his time at Iowa. As a sophomore with the Hawkeyes, Freeman averaged over 16 points and 6 rebounds per contest.

He joins an Auburn team that is coming off of an NIT Championship earlier this spring. The Tigers narrowly missed out on an NCAA Tournament bid during their first season under Steven Pearl, but were still able to generate momentum for the offseason by winning the NIT.

Auburn will be looking to get back to the Big Dance next spring and Freeman figures to be a significant part of those efforts.
