Saturday’s SEC slate includes multiple high-profile matchups, headlined by the Iron Bowl of Basketball and a meeting between Tennessee and Kentucky.

As always, this story will focus on 3 Underdog plays to consider after surveying the entire SEC weekend slate.

College basketball DFS picks

Let’s break down DFS picks for Saturday, Feb. 7 on Underdog Fantasy:

Tyler Tanner higher than 20.5 points

For the third week in a row, I’m taking Tyler Tanner to score over his Underdog points projection. Duke Miles is set to miss another game due to injury, freeing up even more usage for Tanner, who has been very efficient as a scorer and distributor this season. He took 20 shots last time out against Ole Miss and scored 24 of Vandy’s 71 points. With the Commodores expected to score in the mid 80’s against Oklahoma, I have a hard time seeing Vanderbilt approach that number without another big game from Tanner.

Somto Cyril lower than 9.5 points

I don’t think we see Somto Cyril hit double digits in this one. For one thing, Cyril is not a high-usage player by any means. In SEC play, he’s averaging under 5 field goal attempts per game. He’s scored in single digits in 5 of 9 conference games so far this season. Cyril also played 9 minutes in Georgia’s last game and earned some criticism from coach Mike White afterwards. Regardless of White’s comments, I think ‘lower’ is the play here, but Cyril being on thinner ice from a playing time perspective certainly doesn’t hurt.

Max Mackinnon higher than 16.5 points

LSU starting point guard Dedan Thomas is out for a second straight game, which should lead to more opportunity for Max Mackinnon. In the previous game, Mackinnon shot the ball 15 times and scored 15 points. That scoring output was probably a bit on the low side for his expected range given how much he had the ball in his hands — he made just 6 shots and dished out 8 assists. He also had 0 free throw attempts, which is abnormal. With this pick, I’m banking on a little bit more efficiency from Mackinnon against a Georgia defense that has given up 85+ points in 3 straight contests.
