Tuesday’s SEC basketball slate is loaded with 5 games that feature a total of 7 ranked teams in this week’s AP Top 25.

The slate is headlined by a top 15 matchup between Kentucky and Tennessee. However, there are other games with major SEC title and NCAA Tournament seeding implications as well, including Alabama vs. Texas.

Kadin Shedrick higher than 8.5 points

Texas has hit a bit of a stumbling block lately as the Longhorns have lost 3 of their last 4 games in SEC play. However, their offense has not been a problem. In 4 of its last 5 games, Texas’s offense has posted a schedule-adjusted offensive rating above 120, per BartTorvik’s formula. Starting center Kadin Shedrick has gone over this projection in 6 consecutive games as well.

This also appears to be a great matchup for Shedrick against Alabama’s defense. The Crimson Tide have faced 6 players (min. 20 minutes played) that are 6-foot-10 or taller so far in SEC play. All 6 of those players have scored at least 13 points in their respective matchups against Alabama and they collectively averaged 17 points per game with a true shooting percentage of 59.5%, per Radar360. Alabama also leads the country in pace this season, which should translate to a handful of extra possessions for Shedrick to get to 9 points.

Zakai Zeigler lower than 2.5 turnovers

Zakai Zeigler is averaging 2.6 turnovers per game during SEC play and will now face a defense that is one of the worst in the country at forcing turnovers. Per KenPom, Kentucky enters Tuesday night’s game ranked 351st nationally in defensive turnover rate. The Wildcats have been even worse at forcing turnovers in SEC play as their rate has dropped to just 11.1% — dead last in the league. The lack of defensive havoc has been a consistent theme over Mark Pope’s coaching career and appears to be at its worst this season with the Wildcats. In a game last week against Ole Miss, Kentucky forced just 1 turnover for the entire 40 minute game. That marked the first time since at least 2010 that an SEC team has failed to force at least 2 turnovers in a conference game.

Zeigler, on the other hand, is quite shore-handed considering how often he has the ball for the Vols. Zeigler is one of 15 guards in the country this season who averages at least 10 field goal attempts, 6 assists and 30 minutes per game in conference play. Of that group, Zeigler boasts the 6th-fewest turnovers per game. Zeigler has gone under the projection of 2.5 turnovers in 3 of his last 4 games.

Koby Brea higher than 10.5 points

We’ll stick with the Tennessee-Kentucky game for the final pick. Kentucky guard Jaxson Robinson has already been ruled out for this game due to a wrist injury, which means the Wildcats have to replace one of their highest-usage players against arguably the best defense in the country in Tennessee. I expect Brea will be a primary beneficiary in terms of getting more opportunities to shoot in UK’s offense.

Brea is averaging 9.3 points per game during SEC play and has been lights-out from beyond the arc at north of 39% on high volume. Asking him to score more than his average against Tennessee is difficult, but in some ways this is a favorable matchup for Brea. Tennessee’s defense concedes a 3-point attempt on almost 46% of its defensive possessions, which ranks 347th nationally per KenPom. In the first meeting between these programs in Knoxville, Brea scored 18 points and made all 3 of his long-range tries.
