ESPN Analytics predicts the outcome of Mississippi State vs. Tennessee
Mississippi State and Tennessee meet as teams on opposite trajectories in the SEC on Wednesday night, and both desperately need a win for different reasons.
At 6-4 in league play, the Vols are looking to remain within the hunt for a top 4 seed in March’s SEC Tournament, while the Bulldogs are just hoping to generate some form of positive momentum amidst a stretch in which they’ve lost 7 of their past 8 games.
Ahead of the matchup, ESPN’s analytics released their prediction, and the system gives Rick Barnes & Co. a 74.9% chance of coming out on top in Starkville.
Tennessee is aiming to bounce back from its second loss to Kentucky over the weekend, a result that halted the Vols’ four-game winning streak. With home dates against LSU and Oklahoma looming after this one, UT could begin another win streak with a road win tonight.
Meanwhile, Chris Jans is amidst one of his worst seasons in charge of the Mississippi State program, as the Bulldogs have only won a single SEC contest since Jan. 7. And over that stretch, only a pair of games featured single-digit finals.
MSU welcomes Tennessee to town at 9 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast by ESPN2.
