Florida has its first commitment from the 2027 class, and it’s another player with the last name Condon.
Power forward Ian Condon has no relation to current star Gator Alex Condon, but he could potentially be as good. The 6-foot-7 Ian Condon is a current senior who stars for Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, and he chose Florida after also visiting Georgia Tech, as well as Boston College and NC State.
The Class of 2027 4-star prize also received offers from Syracuse, Northwestern, Stanford and Notre Dame. Baylor was also involved in trying to get Condon, but he decided to head south to Gainesville and immediately becomes the headliner in the Gators’ 2027 recruiting class.
In addition to being one of the best high school players in the country, Condon also plays for Team Melo on the Summer circuit.
Here was Condon’s excited and intense message to Gators fans as he announced his commitment on Tuesday afternoon:
“(I’m a) high-energy guy. I’m going to play as hard as I can every chance I get. Versatile and can shoot the ball — and someone who’s going to be a great teammate and someone who wants to win. You know, I want to win as much as possible,” Condon said. “Florida has a standard, and I want to uphold the standard they have.”
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Condon is the 101st-ranked overall prospect in the Class of 2027. He’s also the 20th-rated power forward and the top-rated player from Washington DC.
While Florida builds its future roster, the Gators will be trying to get back to the Final Four this coming season. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Florida’s chances to be playing for a national championship next April:
