Kentucky is expected to have a meeting with current G-League player Dink Pate about potentially joining the Wildcats for next season, according to a report.

That news was shared by Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jacob Polacheck on Sunday afternoon. Pate previously indicated plans to play college basketball in 2026-27 but has not yet decided on a program.

Pate took a non-traditional path out of high school, joining the now-dormant G-League Ignite program in 2023. He’s currently in his third season in the G-League and is averaging about 17 points per game for the Westchester Knicks.

Pate’s potential college eligibility will be controversial due to his status as a professional basketball player over the past 3 years. However, he may not face the same legal challenges that Alabama‘s Charles Bediako dealt with earlier this year.

Unlike Bediako, Pate did not enroll at a university out of high school so his NCAA eligibility clock has not yet started. Pate has previously gone through the NBA Draft process, but went undrafted in 2025 before signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Knicks. He has never played in an NBA game.

Pate was the No. 29 overall player and the No. 2 shooting guard in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He will turn 20 years old later this month.
