On the same day that LSU made waves by agreeing to a deal with RJ Luis, Will Wade and his staff have reportedly earned a commitment from another player from the professional ranks.
According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, the Tigers are set to add Saliou Niang for the 2026-27 season. Niang was the 58th overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2025 NBA Draft.
However, Niang never signed with Cleveland and instead played for Virtus Bologna in the Italian league this past season. Niang also does not have any prior college experience and is expected to be eligible for the upcoming college basketball campaign.

Niang’s addition comes as LSU is taking heat for landing Luis, a former Big East Player of the Year who went undrafted in 2025 before signing a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz. He was later traded to the Boston Celtics but never appeared in an NBA game.
As for Niang, he becomes the latest LSU addition with EuroLeague experience. He averaged over 7 points and 5 rebounds per game in roughly 21 minutes per contest in 38 EuroLeague games during the 2025-26 campaign.
