NET rankings are a key indicator of how teams are viewed around the country. With the men’s college basketball season heading toward Selection Sunday (on Sunday, March 16), every update to the NET rankings is critical.
On Thursday, after the SEC finished off its midweek slate of games, the NET rankings were updated once again. This time, Auburn leapfrogged Duke to claim the No. 1 spot, which is big at this point of the season.
All in all, the SEC accounted for 7 top 25 teams, including 4 teams in the top 6. Here’s a look at where every SEC team stands in the latest NET rankings:
- No. 1 — Auburn
- No. 4 — Tennessee
- No. 5 — Florida
- No. 6 — Alabama
- No. 12 — Mizzou
- No. 14 — Kentucky
- No. 20 — Texas A&M
- No. 27 — Ole Miss
- No. 30 — Mississippi State
- No. 36 — Georgia
- No. 39 — Texas
- No. 40 — Arkansas
- No. 41 — Vanderbilt
- No. 50 — Oklahoma
- No. 80 — LSU
- No. 91 — South Carolina
With so many teams ranked so highly, there are still plenty of opportunities for Quad 1 victories for most SEC teams.
Of the 16 teams in the SEC, 14 are located in the top 50 of the NET rankings. That’s a good spot to be for a conference trying to break the Big East’s record of getting 11 teams into the NCAA Tournament in 2011.
