Basketball season is right around the corner, and Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard is already getting a jump on next year’s high school recruiting class. According to 247Sports’ David Johnson, the Rebels added a commitment from Texas-based sharpshooter Paxton Ivy on Monday night.
Ivy is the first commitment of Ole Miss’s 2027 cycle.
Ivy hails from Rockwall Heath high school, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area after transferring to Lawrence Academy in Boston, then moving back to Dallas for this upcoming season. The standout shooting guard stands at 6-foot-3 and is known for being a high IQ player with elite outside shooting, having shot 40% from range last season at Lawrence.
โWhen coach Beard took time out of his day to come down to Dallas to watch me practice and spend some time with me that dayโฆthat really meant a lot to me,โ Ivy said, via Zach Berry of On3. โObviously heโs really busy and everything with the season coming up and then the rest of the staff, they kind of laid out the plan for me and theyโre super excited. They all have a winning mindset over there and it really just stood out to me and I just felt like there was only one right fit and it was Ole Miss.โ
The Rebels are set to start the 2026-27 season in just under a month on Nov. 2. Our first look at the 2026-27 Rebels will be October 15, an exhibition matchup against Alabama in Birmingham.
