Sam Houston’s transfer portal prize might ultimately land in the mighty SEC.

Former Bearkats star guard Lamar Wilkerson, who is widely recognized as one of the top guards in the portal, plans to visit Auburn, Kentucky and Ole Miss in deciding where he wants to take his talents next season. Seros Partners, who are Wilkerson’s representatives, told On3 of Wilkerson’s plans on Wednesday night.

Wilkerson is also planning to visit Big Ten blue-blood Indiana, so the 6-foot-5 senior is setting the bar high for next season when it comes to his next collegiate destination. Auburn was a Final Four team this past season, while Ole Miss and Kentucky made it to the Sweet 16, so if Wilkerson does come to the SEC, he would be theoretically joining a program with the highest of expectations.

The On3 report suggested that Wilkerson was expected to make his decision after those 4 trips.

Wilkerson averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists this past season for Sam Houston. He also shot an impressive 44.4% from 3-point territory, so whichever fortunate program lands Wilkerson for next season will not only be getting a great scorer but also a great shooter.

Wilkerson will be tasked with raising his game to a whole different level in either the SEC or Big Ten, assuming he chooses 1 of these 4 programs that he’s visiting. Sam Houston not only is part of Conference-USA, but the Bearkats were one of the worst teams in the league this past season, finishing just 13-19 overall and 6-12 in the league.
