The 2026-27 college basketball season kicks off in just a few days as the SEC gears up for what should be an ultra-competitive season in conference play. On Thursday, SEC coaches voted for All-Conference teams, including SEC Player of the Year.
To nobody’s surprise, Florida forward Thomas Haugh was named the preseason SEC Player of the Year. Haugh was named preseason Player of the Year by media a few weeks ago.
There’s really nobody else this award could have gone to. The Gators forward is back for another year in college hoops after helping guide the Gators to a national title 2 seasons ago and following it up with an even better individual season last year, when he was named a 2nd-team consensus All-American and First-Team All-SEC member.
As mentioned, SEC coaches also compiled their all-conference selections. Here’s a full list of the first, second and third teams in the SEC this season:
First-Team
- Amari Allen, Alabama
- Rueben Chinyelu, Florida
- Thomas Haugh, Florida
- Josh Hubbard, Mississippi State
- Tyler Tanner, Vanderbilt
