Thomas Haugh on Charles Bediako playing for Alabama: ‘It’s definitely not right’

Florida starts off February with a home contest against Alabama on Sunday. The Gators were able to bounce back from an upset loss to Auburn with a 95-48 dismantling of South Carolina on Wednesday.

A few weeks ago, none of the Gators would have expected Charles Bediako to be part of the Crimson Tide lineup. Bediako’s teammates certainly didn’t expect it, either. But after being drafted in 2023 and spending a couple of seasons in the G-League, the big man from Canada was granted a temporary restraining order that paved the way for his return to college basketball.

That decision rankled countless people across the sport. Count Florida forward Thomas Haugh among them.

“It’s definitely not right. This dude literally was at college, left, and then came back,” Haugh said, according to the Sun-Sentinel. “But I don’t know. We’ll play them with, play them without him. It doesn’t matter.”

Bediako played 25 minutes in his debut against Tennessee on Jan. 24 and posted 13 points, three rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in a 79-73 loss. During the Tide’s 90-64 blowout of Mizzou on January 27, he started and played 18 minutes, scoring 14 points and adding six rebounds.

Tipoff from the O’Connell Center is set for 2 p.m. ET on ABC.
