Will Wade spoke on Thursday about RJ Luis gaining temporary eligibility to play for LSU, after a district court judge in East Baton Rouge Parish, La., issued an injunction on Wednesday.
Or, rather, he chose to not speak about it.
Wade could add Luis to the roster without facing punishment from the SEC under the injunction. Still, to this point, he has chosen not to, given the SEC’s policy against players who had signed professional basketball contracts in the past.
The LSU head coach reaffirmed that position on Thursday, saying his “stance has not changed.”
“I’d like to talk about some eligibility stuff, but I’m not talking about that. I can’t talk about that in light of what happened yesterday (on Wednesday with Judge Johnson), or the other day, or whenever it was,” Wade said, according to Tiger Rag’s Glenn Guilbeau.
It’s been an interesting last few months for Wade ahead of his first season back in Baton Rouge, after signing a handful of international players to his 2026-27 roster. One of those players, 24-year-old Israeli big man Gilad Levy, played professionally for three seasons in his home country. But his eligibility is still pending. Another, Brice Dessert, was a former pro player in France and had a long wait for his eligibility decision, but has received the green light to play for the Tigers.
