The first college football playoff rankings have been released. The SEC hasnโ€™t had a national champion since 2022, but the conference is looking to end that streak.

In the initial CFP rankings, there are 10 SEC teams currently ranked in the Top 25, setting up what should be an incredible November.

The top-ranked SEC team is Georgia, with the Bulldogs coming in at No.2 behind the Miami Hurricanes. The Bulldogs lost to Auburn in Week 7, but bounced back off the bye with a dominating victory over Florida. They have a huge game looming on Saturday, as they travel to Oxford to take on a Mississippi team that is currently ranked No. 10.

Arguably, the most shocking ranking was Alabama coming in at No. 5, despite having two losses. The Crimson Tide have a huge road game in Week 10 against No. 14 LSU.

No team has had a more surprising year than Kentucky, as the Wildcats are ranked No. 6 in the initial CFP rankings. They have gotten to a 7-1 start under first-year coach Will Stein, but the Wildcats travel to take on No. 13 Tennessee in Week 10.

Texas is No. 7, as the Longhorns have righted the ship with consecutive home wins against Mississippi and Mississippi State. The Longhorns hit the road to take on a Missouri team that is currently ranked No. 18.

South Carolina’s season looked to be over after a 2-3 start, but the Gamecocks have won three straight games and come in at No. 21. A manageable schedule, with a huge game against Georgia, has Shane Beamer’s crew looking to go on a magical run.

The last SEC team in the top 25 is Florida, who is ranked No. 24 despite the blowout loss to Georgia in Week 9.
