Semifinalists for the 2022 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award were announced Monday.

The award is given annually to the best defensive back in college football.

The 12 semifinalists were selected by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Association.

The list features 4 players from the SEC, which was the most of any conference.

Those 4 players are: Trevon Flowers of Tennessee, Emmanuel Forbes of Mississippi State, Antonio Johnson of Texas A&M, and Chris Smith of Georgia.

The Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Selection Committee will meet again on Sunday, November 27, to select 3 finalists for the award, and that trio will be revealed two days later on ESPN.

The winner will then be revealed on Dec. 8 during the “Home Depot College Football Awards” show.
