Both Florida and Texas fans knew Easton Royal would be watching Saturday’s showdown in Austin. To no one’s surprise, Royal had something to say.

A 5-star wide receiver prospect, Royal made headlines this past Sunday when he announced that he had flipped his commitment from Texas to Florida, a big win for Jon Sumrall‘s staff in its first full cycle recruiting for the Gators. It’s safe to say Royal found some amusement in Florida defeating No. 7 Texas in Austin.

Royal took to X, and shared a photo where he and Sumrall are chomping. He captioned it using 3 crying-laughing emojis, 3 gator emojis and “go gators.”

Out of New Orleans (Louisiana) Brother Martin High School, Royal is listed at a hair under 6 feet tall and 214 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Royal is rated 5-stars, the No. 1 wide receiver, No. 1 player in Louisiana and No. 5 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.

With the way the SEC schedule is set up for 2026-29, Royal may only see Texas once as a Gator (assuming he follows through on his verbal commitment and signs). The Gators host the Longhorns in 2028, but Florida and Texas are not scheduled to play in the regular season in 2027 or 2029.
