Now that the NFL Combine is over, many analysts are releasing their updated mock drafts.
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has updated his first-round projections, and now he has seven SEC players hearing their names called on day one.
As you can see below, Jeremiah has four Alabama players and three other former SEC stars going early in this year’s draft:
- No. 4 — Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama — Cleveland Browns
- No. 11 — Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia — Miami Dolphins
- No. 19 — Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama — Dallas Cowboys
- No. 20 — Taven Bryan, DT, Florida — Detroit Lions
- No. 21 — Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama — Buffalo Bills
- No. 24 — Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama — Carolina Panthers
- No. 29 — Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina — Jacksonville Jaguars
Notable absences from the first round are Alabama’s Ronnie Harrison, Georgia’s Isaiah Wynn, LSU’s Donte Jackson and Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk.
All of those players will have a chance to work their way back into the first round at their schools’ pro days, but they’ll have some work to do.
