While Arch Manning is arguably the SEC quarterback at the head of the line for many in college football media, Kamario Taylor is someone worth keeping an eye on.

The Mississippi State signal-caller had a sensational Week 1 showing against Louisiana-Monroe, throwing for 354 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 59 yards and a score. While the Bulldogs were well in control against a Warhawks team that finished 3-9 in 2025, they’ll face more of a challenge against Minnesota in Week 2.

SEC Network analyst Chase Daniel called Taylor “the most underrated quarterback in the nation.” Now, CBS Sports analyst Aaron Taylor (no relation) has compared him to one of the all-time greats in college football history.

“The word that comes to mind with Kamario Taylor is ‘effortless’. Nothing this dude does looks hard,” Aaron Taylor said on Saturday’s “College Football Today” on CBS. “Had over 400 yards of offense last week against ULM. And Vince Young, with a cleaner release, is who he reminds me of.”

That’s going to be a high bar for Taylor to reach. He’ll have at least one more year in college after this one. How he grows throughout 2026 and 2027 will be worth tracking.
