ABC misses halftime interview with Steve Sarkisian due to technical issues

Texas vs. Ohio State was billed as the biggest regular-season game of the year, but it was all Buckeyes in Austin as they led 20-3 heading to the half. One thing that was noticeably absent from halftime was an interview with Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian.
While there was speculation that he refused the interview because his team was losing, ESPN sideline reporter Laura Rutledge said it was a technical issue (and subsequent delay) that prevented the interview.
“I do want to make sure we clear something up,” Rutledge said. “[Steve Sarkisian] did decline the interview at the half. He had waited a long time, been very patient with some technical issues that we had. He apologized to us. We should be apologizing to him, which we did.”

This matchup was a big opportunity for the Longhorns, who are playing Ohio State in a rematch of last season’s Week 1 game the Buckeyes won, 14-7. Instead, the Longhorns came out not ready to go and trailed 23-3 at the break.
Sarkisian has heard all about how the Longhorns can’t win the big game, and this would be another example. If Texas is unable to come back and get the win, Sarkisian figures to get asked many questions after the game on Saturday night.
