Active bowl streaks for 11 SEC teams updated through this season

It’s just about time for fans across the SEC to clear their calendar for December and January, and consider a trip to a bowl game, preferably in a sunny destination.

Florida State recently officially snapped its 36-year bowl streak, which was the longest in the nation. The SEC doesn’t have any streaks that long, but there are several in double digits.

Interestingly, Georgia could move into the top spot depending on how Virginia Tech does against Marshall this week. The Hokies, who are 5-6, now have the longest at 25 years. A win over Marshall would make it 26 years, while Georgia sits at 22 years. Other non-SEC teams in the mix at the top are Oklahoma (20), Boise State (17), Wisconsin (17), Clemson (14) and Oklahoma State (13).

Much of this speaks to stability in programs, and how, even in a down year, many programs are able to squeak into a low-level game, which ensures the valuable additional practice time.
