Alabama AD Greg Byrne issues statement on hiring of Buffalo’s Nate Oats

The Alabama Crimson Tide moved quickly in their quest to replace former basketball coach Avery Johnson.
On Wednesday, AD Greg Byrne announced the school had hired Buffalo coach Nate Oats as the Tide’s new basketball coach.
He issued a statement shortly thereafter, welcoming Oats and his family to Tuscaloosa and wishing him a long and successful career at Alabama:

Oats has led the Buffalo Bulls to the NCAA Tournament three of the last four years, winning the first-round game each of the last two seasons.
The Wisconsin native doesn’t have many ties to the south, but he’s a good coach who had a ton of success at Buffalo. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares in Year 1 at Alabama.
