The average fan might not be too concerned with the 2028 recruiting cycle right now. We’re weeks away from the 2026 season kicking off. The Class of 2027 will be the next to sign, beginning in December. Coaches, however, are always thinking about the future.
On Sunday, Alabama got some good news for two years down the road. Blue-chip edge defender Tysir Young has committed to play for Kalen DeBoer‘s program.
Out of Middletown (Delaware) High School, Young is currently listed at 6-3 and 215 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Young is rated 4-stars, the No. 1 player in the state of Delaware, No. 13 edge defender and No. 105 prospect overall in the Class of 2028.
Even though it’s early in the 2028 cycle, Young has already been widely recruited. He has collected scholarship offers from 34 programs, including Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
Young told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that he chose Alabama over Miami, Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia and Rutgers.
