The Louisville Cardinals didn’t have much of a chance on Saturday night against Alabama.
The defending national champions came out hungry, scoring early and often against the overmatched Cardinals, who are trying to rebuild after losing superstar QB Lamar Jackson to the NFL.
The scoreboard said 51-14 in favor of Alabama, but it may have been an even more dominant performance than the score indicated.
As you can see in the video below, shared by AL.com on YouTube, Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said there was no doubt that the Tide were better than the Cardinals on Saturday night:
“It was a tough game,” he said. “There was no doubt they were the better football team out there.”
So, what does Petrino take away from this lopsided game? He said the Cardinals now know what it takes to compete against elite talent:
“It has to help us,” he said. “We’re out there competing against some of the best players in the country and great coaching. Like I told the players, this is not a failure if we learn from it.”
