Alabama football is set to hire former Kentucky executive recruiting director Danielle Braswell as its newest director of recruiting operations. Braswell will be taking the role left vacant by Carrigan Johnson when she announced her departure earlier this month.

To say Braswell has experience in this department would be an understatement. Before serving at Kentucky’s executive director of recruiting, Braswell worked at Texas A&M as the Aggies’ director of on-campus recruiting from 2019-2022. Braswell also worked in a similar role at Arkansas from 2016-2018.

Braswell was instrumental in helping Texas A&M secure the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the nation in 2022. According to 247Sports, this class was rated as the No. 1 class in college football history.

While Alabama has still posted top 5 classes under DeBoer, the Crimson Tide class rankings have fallen every season since Nick Saban’s retirement. DeBoer’s first class in 2024 was ranked No. 2, followed by the No. 4 class in 2025 and No. 6 class in 2026. So far, Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class ranks No. 19 with 4 total commitments.

Obviously, this move was made to turn the trend around and keep the Crimson Tide at the top of the recruiting world in this new NIL landscape.
