The weekend is off to a strong start in Tuscaloosa.
Following the conclusion of Alabama’s annual A-Day spring scrimmage, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer landed a commitment from a 2027 defensive line prospect. Mobile (Ala.) McGill Toolen defensive lineman Avrian Pauley announced his verbal commitment to Alabama on social media.
Pauley was on campus Saturday for Alabama’s spring scrimmage, part of a healthy contingent of 2027 prospects expected. With Pauley a frequent visitor, Alabama was viewed as a heavy favorite to land his commitment. That ultimately came to pass without much drama.

He picked the Tide over offers from Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, among others. Alabama was the first power conference program to offer him.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defender is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the No. 21 recruit from the state of Alabama and the No. 64 defensive lineman. Overall, he sits at No. 539 in the national player rankings.
His pledge gives Alabama its fourth known commitment for the 2027 cycle, joining 4-star quarterback Trent Seaborn, 3-star athlete Colt Lumpris, and 3-star tight end Oakley Keegan.
